Noida, June 26 (APAC Media): Indian equity markets remained shut on Friday as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) observed a trading holiday on account of Muharram.
All segments, including equities, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and currency markets, remained closed for the day in line with the official exchange holiday calendar.

The closure follows a recent phase of steady gains in benchmark indices, which had ended the previous trading session on a positive note. With today’s holiday, trading activity will resume on Monday, June 29, as per the regular schedule.
Commodity derivatives saw a partial holiday structure, with morning sessions closed in line with exchange guidelines, while evening trading is subject to segment-specific rules.
Market participants will next track global cues over the weekend before domestic markets reopen for the new trading week.
The Muharram holiday is among several scheduled market closures in the Indian equities calendar, which also includes festivals such as Diwali, Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti, and Ganesh Chaturthi.
