New Delhi, June 23(CXO Media): Tata Electronics has confirmed a cybersecurity incident after a ransomware group claimed to have leaked sensitive files linked to Apple and Tesla, raising fresh concerns over supply chain security in India’s fast-growing electronics manufacturing sector.
The breach came to light after the ransomware group “World Leaks” published what it claims are more than 200,000 corporate files on the dark web. The leaked data reportedly includes component design documents, material specifications, and internal files connected to Apple and Tesla.
Apple And Tesla Data Allegedly Exposed
According to information posted by the hacking group, the leaked dataset totals more than 630GB. Some folders reportedly contain files labelled with Apple-related references, including manufacturing and factory data documents. The authenticity of the leaked material has not been independently verified.
Tata Electronics said it identified the cybersecurity incident several weeks ago and immediately activated its response protocols. The company stated that the incident has not affected business operations or manufacturing activities.
Ransomware Attack Under Investigation
A source familiar with the matter said Apple is conducting a detailed review of the incident, while Tata Electronics has reportedly received a ransom demand linked to the breach.
The development comes at a crucial time for Apple’s manufacturing expansion in India. Tata Electronics has become one of Apple’s key production partners outside China and plays an increasingly important role in the country’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
The incident highlights growing cybersecurity risks facing global supply chains as manufacturers handle large volumes of sensitive product and engineering data.
