New Delhi, June 23 (APAC Media): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is set to launch NAFED’s digital auction portal, NAFEX.in, in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The initiative is part of the Centre’s broader effort to promote transparency, efficiency, and technology-led reforms in the cooperative sector.
The launch programme will be held at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan and will be attended by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir, Managing Director Deepak Agarwal, and other senior officials.
New Farmer-Centric Initiatives
Alongside the launch of NAFEX.in, Shah will unveil several new initiatives aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening NAFED’s operations.
These include the NAFED-KALYAN scholarship scheme for children of farmers, the DRISHTI portal for managing pulse and oilseed inventories, and a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal designed to enhance organisational efficiency.
A live demonstration showcasing the registration and auction process on the NAFEX.in platform will also be conducted during the event.
Enhancing Transparency Through Technology
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, NAFEX.in has been developed to digitise and streamline agricultural produce auctions. The portal is expected to improve transparency, simplify auction procedures, and enhance operational efficiency for farmers, member institutions, and other stakeholders associated with NAFED.
Support for Farmers’ Education
As part of the programme, scholarship cheques under the NAFED-KALYAN scheme will be distributed to children of farmers.
The initiative seeks to provide educational support to farming families and reflects NAFED’s continued focus on farmer welfare and empowerment.
NAFED plays a significant role in agricultural procurement, marketing, and cooperative trade across India.
The launch of these digital platforms and welfare initiatives aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”, aimed at modernising cooperative institutions through technology-driven governance, transparency, and farmer-focused reforms.
