Patna, July 27 (APAC Media): Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday unveiled a major development roadmap focused on industrial growth, infrastructure expansion and employment generation.
The projects span industries, aviation, flood management, education and women empowerment, with the government aiming to accelerate Bihar’s economic growth and attract fresh investments.
Industrial Growth Tops Agenda
The Chief Minister said the government is working to establish industries in every district to generate employment and strengthen Bihar’s industrial base.
He said the next phase of development will focus on attracting investment, expanding industrial infrastructure and creating more job opportunities for the state’s youth.
Steel Plant Planned in Gaya
A major announcement was the proposed establishment of a steel plant in the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) at Gaya.
The project, planned on the lines of the Bokaro Steel Plant, is expected to boost manufacturing activity and generate large-scale employment in the region.
Electronic Park in Muzaffarpur
The government also announced an Electronic Park at Rajapakar in Muzaffarpur.
The project is expected to attract investments of ₹20,000-30,000 crore and create nearly one lakh jobs, providing a significant boost to Bihar’s electronics manufacturing sector.
25 New Sugar Mills Planned
To strengthen the agriculture-based economy, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish 25 new sugar mills over the next five years.
The initiative aims to improve market access for sugarcane farmers, promote agro based industries and generate additional employment in rural areas.
Industrial Corridor and Flood Management
The state plans to develop an industrial corridor along the Kosi and Gandak rivers, along with new townships near the Ganga, Kosi and Gandak river belts.
Samrat Choudhary also announced that a comprehensive master plan will be prepared to reduce flood related losses, improve river management and strengthen disaster preparedness in flood-prone regions.
Major Push for Airport Infrastructure
The Chief Minister said Darbhanga Airport will be upgraded to an international airport, while Purnia Airport will also receive international status under a ₹206 crore project.
The government further announced plans for new airports at Sonpur, Sultanganj (Bhagalpur), Veerpur, Saharsa, Forbesganj, Kishanganj, Valmikinagar, Muzaffarpur and Gopalganj to improve regional connectivity and support economic activity.
Support for Students and Women
The state government announced that Bihar students studying at Nalanda International University will receive the Mukhyamantri Scholarship.
A Jeevika Tower will also be built in Patna to provide women self-help groups with a dedicated platform to market their products and expand their businesses.
