New Delhi, July 23 (APAC Media): West Delhi Collector IAS Hari Kallikkat has launched ‘Dialogue with DM – Aapka Collector, Aapke Beech’.
The monthly initiative aims to connect school students with the district administration.
It will inspire young minds through direct interaction on governance, leadership and career development.
The programme has successfully completed two editions and is set to continue as a regular monthly feature, with the next session scheduled later this month.
Platform for Student Interaction
The initiative provides meritorious school students an opportunity to engage directly with the District Magistrate in an informal setting.
Students discuss topics such as career choices, academic challenges, leadership, mental well being, public administration and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in education.
Sharing the IAS Journey
During the sessions, Hari Kallikkat shares his own journey from studying in a government school in rural India to joining the Indian Administrative Service.
He speaks about overcoming financial challenges during UPSC preparation, encouraging students to pursue their goals with determination, discipline and confidence.
Focus on Values and Leadership
The Collector encourages students to build their future on the principles of courage, confidence and clarity.
He also highlights the importance of teachers, family support, yoga, music and government scholarship programmes in shaping personal and professional growth.
Bringing Governance Closer to Youth
For many participants, the programme marks their first visit to the District Magistrate’s office and their first interaction with the district administration.
The initiative aims to make governance more accessible, encourage civic participation and inspire young people to consider careers in public service.
Supporting Nation Building
The monthly outreach programme seeks to strengthen the relationship between the administration and young citizens by promoting awareness, mentorship and public engagement.
By opening the doors of the District Magistrate’s office to students, the initiative aims to nurture informed, confident and socially responsible future leaders.
