New Delhi, July 22(APAC Media): Microsoft is expanding its partnership with AMD to strengthen the AI infrastructure running on Azure cloud services.
The two companies announced that Microsoft will deploy AMD’s new Helios Rackscale Solution, which combines AMD Instinct MI455X AI GPUs, 6th Gen AMD EPYC “Venice” processors, Pensando networking technology and ROCm software. The platform is designed to handle large AI inference workloads, including frontier AI models, Azure AI services and enterprise AI applications.
The deployment is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, when AMD starts shipping the Helios platform to customers. Microsoft said the move is aimed at giving Azure customers more computing options as demand for AI infrastructure continues to grow.
The partnership also includes two new Azure virtual machine (VM) series powered by AMD EPYC processors. The Azure HDv2 series is built for agentic AI and data processing workloads, while Azure HXv2 is designed for semiconductor design and engineering applications. Microsoft is also expanding the use of AMD Pensando DPUs to improve Azure networking performance and cloud efficiency.
The latest announcement highlights Microsoft’s continued investment in expanding Azure’s AI infrastructure while offering customers additional hardware choices for AI training, inference and enterprise cloud workloads.
