New Delhi, 21 August (APAC Media): India and Mauritius have signed a government-to-government (G2G) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation across oil, gas, biofuels, sustainability, and emerging energy sectors, alongside a five-year petroleum products supply agreement.
The MoU was signed between Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Mauritius’ Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection John Michael Tzoun Sao Yeung Sik Yuen.
Indian Oil to Ensure Long-Term Fuel Supplies
The five-year commercial agreement between Indian Oil Corporation and the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius will provide long-term supplies of petrol, diesel, marine gas oil, and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).
According to Puri, the arrangement is expected to offer Mauritius greater supply certainty, improved price stability, and enhanced energy security, while supporting the country’s mobility, connectivity, and economic growth.
The supply of marine gas oil and ATF is particularly significant for Mauritius, an island economy that depends heavily on shipping and air connectivity to support trade and tourism.
Broader Framework for Energy Security
Indian Oil said the petroleum supply agreement forms part of a broader framework aimed at strengthening energy security and providing greater predictability amid a volatile global energy environment.
The company said the G2G MoU would enable stronger collaboration across conventional and emerging energy segments, reinforcing India’s commitment to Mauritius’ long-term energy security.
However, neither side has disclosed the volumes contracted, pricing mechanism or financial value of the five-year agreement.
