New Delhi, August 20 (APAC Media): The UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026 held in New Delhi saw the launch of multiple projects by Japanese firms, Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation, worth a combined Rs 3,191 crore.
The projects, coming up at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), are expected to generate more than 10,000 jobs and strengthen Japanese manufacturing and automotive supply chains in Uttar Pradesh.
About the Investments
Escorts Kubota will invest Rs 2,025 crore in a manufacturing facility in Sector-10, YEIDA. The project will produce tractors, construction equipment, and allied products for domestic and export markets and is expected to create employment for more than 3,800 people.
Minda Corporation will set up two facilities in Sector-10 and Sector-24 with a combined investment of Rs 1,166 crore. The projects are expected to generate around 6,440 jobs and manufacture ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components, wiring harnesses and related connection systems.
Japanese City to Anchor Industrial Growth
The investment meet brought together more than 200 Japanese delegates and focused on opportunities in manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, green hydrogen, agriculture, skills, tourism, and technology.
A proposed Japanese City near Noida International Airport is expected to play a key role in deepening industrial ties. Located close to emerging semiconductor, electronics, and data-centre ecosystems, it is envisioned as an integrated industrial environment for Japanese companies.
Uttar Pradesh is also pitching its connectivity and industrial infrastructure, including 17 operational airports, two Dedicated Freight Corridors, metro connectivity across seven cities, and an industrial land bank of over 75,000 acres.
Focus on Skills and Technology Transfer
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted Japanese practices such as Kaizen, 5S, green manufacturing, robotics, and precision engineering as potential tools for building an industry-ready workforce and promoting technology transfer.
With the Kubota and Minda projects entering implementation, the UP–Japan Investment Meet has reinforced the state’s ambition to build a long-term Japanese industrial ecosystem and support its goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
