New Delhi, August 20(APAC Media): IAMAI has named Mihir Rale as Chair and Dibyajyoti Das as Co-Chair of its Legal Tech Committee.
Rale is a Partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, while Das is Head of Legal & Compliance at Experian India. The appointments come as companies face growing legal and compliance requirements across India’s digital economy.
Legal Tech And Regulatory Focus
The IAMAI Legal Tech Committee brings together general counsels, law firms and legal technology companies to discuss legal and regulatory issues affecting digital businesses. The committee will also provide legal and regulatory inputs to IAMAI’s sectoral committees.
The focus is expected to include areas where overlapping regulations, unclear rules or additional compliance requirements could create challenges for businesses.
Rale said the priority should not be simply to increase regulation but to develop rules that support innovation, protect consumers and address genuine risks without creating unnecessary compliance burdens.
Digital Economy Faces Changing Rules
The move comes at a time when technology is becoming closely linked with sectors such as finance, e-commerce, media and other consumer-facing businesses. Data protection, online platforms, artificial intelligence and digital services have also increased the need for clearer legal and regulatory frameworks.
IAMAI’s wider public policy work already covers areas including data governance, intermediary liability, safe harbour, consumer protection and digital taxation.
Rale joined Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in 2025 as a Partner and Co-Head of its Digital and TMT practice, after spending 15 years as General Counsel at Star and Disney India.
The new committee leadership puts legal and compliance issues at the centre of IAMAI’s engagement with India’s evolving digital policy framework.
