Noida, Oct 15 (APAC Media): Gold prices in India recovered on Thursday, October 15, after registering a sharp decline in the previous trading session. Domestic prices remained influenced by trends in international bullion markets, fluctuations in the US dollar and expectations regarding the US Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy.
Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) rebounded by Rs 2,041 to Rs 1,47,889 per 10 grams on Thursday, snapping a three-session losing streak, as value buying and a weaker US dollar supported demand for the precious metal.
The December contract rose 1.4%, recovering part of its recent losses after shedding Rs 5,651, or nearly 4%, over the previous three sessions. Gold had settled at Rs 1,51,499 per 10 grams on October 9.
In international markets, December gold futures on the Comex also climbed, gaining USD 66.80, or nearly 2%, to USD 4,174.70 per ounce in New York, ending a three-session decline.
According to market reports, international spot gold moved higher during early trading, approaching $4,144 per ounce. US gold futures also recorded gains, reflecting a partial recovery after gold came under pressure on Wednesday.

Why Are Gold Prices Fluctuating?
Gold prices faced downward pressure in the previous session after stronger-than-expected US inflation data increased expectations that the Federal Reserve could maintain higher interest rates for longer. Higher interest rates generally reduce gold’s appeal because the precious metal does not offer interest income.
Domestic bullion prices also reflected the impact of movements in international markets. On October 14, domestic spot gold closed lower, while gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded losses.
The subsequent rebound in international prices offered some support to bullion on Thursday.

What Should Jewellery Buyers Know?
Consumers planning to purchase gold jewellery should compare rates across local jewellers before making a purchase. Prices can differ because of city-level market conditions, gold purity and individual jeweller pricing.
The final jewellery bill usually includes making charges and applicable taxes in addition to the gold value. Buyers should check the purity hallmark, weight and itemised invoice before completing a transaction.
Gold prices may continue to fluctuate as investors assess inflation data, currency movements and central-bank policy expectations.
