Patna: SJVN Limited and IIT Patna have teamed up to improve tunnelling projects. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to use advanced geological models. This partnership aims to reduce delays and costs.
One key result will be the development of predictive analytics algorithms. These algorithms will use various geological data to predict risks and give early warnings for tunnelling projects. This should help prevent delays and save money during project work.
Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, informed that the main focus of the MoU is to create cutting-edge methodologies that combine diverse geotechnical data sources, including geological surveys, borehole data, geophysical measurements, and project monitoring data.
Additionally, the collaboration will study how different layers of the earth affect the shape of tunnels. This will help improve the design of support systems needed for tunnelling projects. SJVN and IIT Patna will use various geological data and 3D models to identify and understand risks better.
The MoU was signed on April 2, 2024, in New Delhi, with SJVN’s Director (Finance), A.K Singh, and IIT Patna’s Director, T.N Singh.
