New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the tenure of Delhi Chief Secretary, and IAS officer Naresh Kumar by three months. He will now serve in this position till August 2024. This comes after his previous six-month extension, which was slated to end on May 31, 2024.
Kumar is a 1987 batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre. He has served as the Chief Secretary of Delhi since April 2023. Previously, he was serving as the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh.
Scheduled to retire on November 30, the Centre extended Kumar’s tenure. The Centre contended that it has the authority to extend the term of the Chief Secretary for six months.
