New Delhi: Google has launched its Gemini AI app in India supporting nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Incidentally, Google rebranded its Bard AI chatbot as Gemini in February and subsequently launched a separate app.
Google is rolling out Gemini in Google Messages in India, which will allow users to draft messages, brainstorm ideas and plan events more directly from within the Messages app. However, the new feature will only be rolled out in English and on “select devices” initially. In fact, Google is bringing the Gemini 1.5 Pro language model to India. that comes with a 1 million token window and can handle huge amounts of input, including long documents (up to 1,500 pages) and hours of videos.
However, Gemini users in India will have to wait for nearly four months to get the standalone app, which should make using the chatbot more convenient. Gemini in Google Messages would be limited to some Pixel and flagship Samsung devices.
