Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has signed an agreement with the Principals Academy, Singapore, to train teachers in modern teaching methods, leadership skills, and innovative pedagogical practices. The agreement was formalized in Singapore in the presence of Education Minister Rohit Thakur, along with Principals Academy’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ezra Ng, and other officials.
Under this partnership, teachers from Himachal will receive training without any financial burden on the state exchequer. The initiative aims to improve the quality of education by incorporating global best practices into the state’s school system.
Key Training Areas and Programmes
According to a spokesperson from Samagra Shiksha, the collaboration will focus on organising training programmes for principals, administrators, and teachers. These programmes will cover innovative teaching methodologies, leadership skills, and school management to modernize the education system.
In addition to structured training, workshops, seminars, and exchange programmes will be conducted to enhance teachers’ expertise. Specially developed online and offline training modules will be designed to cater to the specific needs of Himachal’s educators, helping them adopt international best practices.
Implementation of Modern Teaching Methods
The agreement also includes the introduction of specialized training materials and modern teaching methodologies. These will be implemented to align Himachal’s teachers with global educational standards.
To ensure continuous improvement, regular assessments and evaluations will be conducted to measure the effectiveness of training programmes. The possibility of certification programmes for teachers is also being explored, providing them with formal recognition for their skill development.
Educators Exchange Programme
A significant aspect of this agreement is the exchange of expertise between the two regions. While teachers from Himachal will travel to Singapore for training, experienced educators and experts from Singapore will visit Himachal to evaluate local teaching processes and provide targeted support.
These experts will assess classroom practices in Himachal’s schools and offer guidance tailored to local needs. This exchange will ensure that global expertise reaches state schools, fostering innovation in education.
A Step Towards a Progressive Education System
Education Minister Rohit Thakur emphasized that Singapore’s contribution to Himachal’s education system will be invaluable. He stated that the insights and expertise received from Singapore will inspire teachers and students alike. The knowledge transfer from this initiative will modernize teaching techniques, encourage leadership, and open new avenues for classroom innovation.
