Noida, May 1 (APAC Media): Noida International Airport will begin commercial flight operations from June 15, marking a significant development for air connectivity in the National Capital Region, officials said.
Low-cost carrier IndiGo will operate the first scheduled flight from the airport, while other airlines are expected to commence services in a phased manner.
The airport, located in Jewar in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district UP, is being developed as a major alternative to Indira Gandhi International Airport, which currently handles the bulk of air traffic in the region. Authorities said the new facility is expected to ease congestion at Delhi’s main airport and improve regional connectivity.
“We are happy to announce that commercial flight operations at Noida International Airport will commence from June 15, 2026. This marks a significant milestone in our journey to create a world-class aviation hub serving the National Capital Region and North India. The launch of operations will open a new gateway for passengers, airlines, and cargo operators while enhancing connectivity, driving economic growth, and supporting the region’s long-term development.” According to the officials’ release.

The start of operations follows regulatory clearances, including approval of the aerodrome security programme by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, confirming that the airport meets required safety standards.
On March 28, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, a project developed at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore. Commercial operations are slated to commence from June 15, 2026, with IndiGo as the first carrier. The airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity across the National Capital Region and act as a catalyst for economic growth and infrastructure development in western Uttar Pradesh.
The airport will operate with a single runway and a modern passenger terminal, with an initial capacity to handle around 12 million passengers annually. Expansion plans in subsequent phases will significantly enhance passenger capacity and add more runways.
Officials said the airport will initially focus on domestic operations, with international services to be introduced after operations stabilise.
Once fully developed, Noida International Airport is expected to become one of India’s largest aviation hubs, supporting long-term growth in passenger and cargo traffic while strengthening the country’s overall aviation network.
