New Delhi, May 1 (APAC Media): Senior IAS Brajendra Navnit has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the 8th Central Pay Commission under the Department of Expenditure.Â
The appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
Navnit will serve a tenure of four years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders. He is currently serving as Principal Secretary in the Information Technology and Digital Services Department of the Tamil Nadu government.
A 1999-batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Navnit brings wide-ranging experience in governance, finance, and international trade. His move to the centre marks a key transition from state administration to a major policy role.
Over his career, he has held several important positions. As Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, he contributed to policy coordination. He also served as India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization, where he represented the country in global trade negotiations.
At the state level, he has worked as District Collector of Viluppuram, Sub Collector in Tirunelveli, and Additional Commissioner in the Chennai Corporation. He has also served as Principal Secretary in key departments including Commercial Taxes, Registration, and Information Technology.
The 8th Pay Commission is responsible for reviewing and recommending changes to the salary structure of central government employees and pensioners. Navnit’s appointment is expected to strengthen the Commission’s work with his diverse administrative and policy experience.
