Noida, Sep 9 (APAC Media): Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), the airport arm of Adani Enterprises Ltd, has raised about $1 billion from a group of global investors, including Singapore’s Temasek, funds managed by BlackRock, Alpha Wave Global and Premji Invest.
The investment values AAHL at around $18 billion before the fresh capital. The investment places AAHL’s value at approximately $18 billion, excluding the new capital, into account. The investors will subscribe to new shares in three tranches, with the final tranche expected to be completed by July 2027.
Following the investment, the consortium will hold about 5.54 per cent in AAHL.
The company said the funds will be used to expand and modernise its airport infrastructure, develop city-side projects and strengthen businesses such as ground handling and other non-aeronautical services.

AAHL is looking to increase its annual passenger-handling capacity to nearly 200 million as air travel in India continues to grow.
The company is also developing airport-city projects around its airports. The first phase of the Adani Airport City development is planned to include around 22 million square feet of mixed-use space, covering commercial and other facilities.
“This partnership marks an important milestone in building out the Adani Airports platform,” Jeet Adani, non-executive director of AAHL, said.
“We are privileged to have such marquee, long-term investors alongside us as we pursue our growth plans,” he said.
Jeet Adani said India’s aviation sector could play an important role in supporting economic growth by improving connectivity and creating opportunities in areas such as tourism, trade and employment.
AAHL Chief Executive Officer Arun Bansal said the company would continue to strengthen its capabilities as it expands its airport network.
“We will continue to build capabilities within AAHL to scale it into the world’s largest airport platform,” Bansal said.
The fundraising comes after Adani Enterprises raised Rs 15,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement in July.
AAHL currently operates eight airports and handles about a quarter of India’s passenger traffic, according to Reuters.
The latest transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals.
The investment comes at a time when India’s aviation market is seeing strong passenger growth, with airports emerging as important hubs for commercial development beyond traditional air travel.
The new capital is expected to help AAHL accelerate its expansion plans as it seeks to build a larger airport network and develop businesses linked to its airport operations.
