New Delhi : PVR Nest, the CSR arm of PVR Inox, has partnered VFS Global to set up 11 safe centers for women at risk in 35 urban slum settlements in Delhi.
These 11 centers named as Garima Grih and Pink Centers are located in the most vulnerable city slum settlements including the likes of R K Puram, Kirti Nagar and Vikas Puri.
Thousands of women received skill based training that has provided these first generation earning women to become financially and economically independent.
11 community cohort leaders groomed as changemakers became the force of the program . They themselves underwent rigorous training programs to develop leadership capabilities and in turn influenced more than 5000 community women through behavioural change programs.
Most women, including single mothers, had faced abject poverty and strict gender roles and could not pursue education have been empowered by thr program. Most have successfully disrupted the intergenerational cycles of poverty.
Their success stories were lauded by Mitali Namchoom, IAS, Director, Department of Women and Child. “The empowerment of women is at the heart of our nation’s progress. It is heartening to see so many women rose above challenges, lead with confidence and contribute to the transformation of their communities,” she said.
