The Sir Ratan Tata Industrial Institute (SRTII), a division of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, has nominated Maya and Leah Tata, daughters of Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata, to its board of trustees. According to a news outlet, they take the place of Arnaz Kotwal and Freddy Talati, who resigned from their trustee roles.
There has apparently been internal strife caused by the recent additions of Maya and Leah Tata to the board. Kotwal reportedly complained that she was asked to step down in order to create room for the new members. Kotwal expressed her disappointment that no one had contacted her personally and said she was “blindsided” by the decision in a letter to her colleagues trustees.
Although they have not yet been admitted to the boards of the two main Tata Trusts, Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trusts and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Allied Trusts, Noel Tata’s children are now represented on the boards of all lesser Tata Trusts as a result of this action.
