Hilton has today announced a partnership with the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Under the association, Hilton is supporting meaningful career opportunities for retired army personnel, ex-servicemen, and their families, recognising their invaluable service to the nation. AWPO, a dedicated non-profit organisation by the Indian Army, operates 17 regional offices and 49 placement centres across India, actively supporting veterans and their families in finding additional employment.
With shared values like leadership, integrity and teamwork, veterans, spouses and dependants become a natural fit for Hilton, a company which is committed to creating a best-in-class workplace environment that fosters pride, meaningful connections and a sense of belonging. Through this partnership, Hilton will support veterans in their search for career opportunities that align with their skills and aspirations across Hilton’s South Asia properties.
Sabu Raghavan, vice president, human resources, South Asia, Hilton, said, “Our army veterans bring leadership, discipline, and resilience – qualities that enrich any workplace. They have led teams in the toughest conditions, solved problems with limited resources, and carried the weight of responsibility on their shoulders. These are not just skills; they are the foundation of strong, capable individuals who can thrive in any industry. This association is a result of shared values and purpose. The hospitality industry thrives on camaraderie, teamwork, ownership and commitment and these values make our army personnel and their families a great addition to our growing workforce in South Asia.”
Major General Ajay Singh Chauhan, managing director, Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) said “Service is not just a duty for army personnel, it is a lifelong commitment, often shared by their families. This MOU reaffirms the immense value of their contributions beyond their years in uniform. It is encouraging to see an initiative that not only honours their dedication but also provides them with purposeful career opportunities. Hilton’s commitment to veteran hiring sets a strong precedent, and I hope more organisations recognise the unparalleled skills and discipline our veterans bring to the workforce. This partnership ensures that their leadership, integrity, and commitment continue to shape and strengthen the service sector.”
Under this initiative, AWPO will facilitate candidate selection, while Hilton’s recruitment team will conduct interviews to identify roles suited to their expertise. Hilton will provide tailored training and upskilling programs to ease the transition of army personnel into the civilian workforce. By equipping veterans with the necessary skills and support, Hilton aims to ensure their long-term career success.
