Chandigarh: The Punjab government has transferred three IAS officers, appointing new leadership in key departments, including Food and Supplies and Industries and Commerce. The administrative reshuffle is part of the state’s efforts to optimize governance.
Key Appointments
Varinder Kumar Sharma, a 2009-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Director of Food and Supplies, replacing Puneet Goyal (2010 batch), who has not been assigned a new role yet.
Surbhi Malik, a 2012-batch IAS officer, has been given charge as the Director of Industries and Commerce. She will also serve as the Managing Director of the Punjab State Industrial Export Corporation (PSIEC).
The latest bureaucratic changes come as the Bhagwant Mann-led administration continues its push for administrative efficiency. Punjab has witnessed multiple bureaucratic reshuffles in recent months, signaling a focus on restructuring governance at key levels.
Officials familiar with the matter stated that these changes align with the government’s broader agenda to streamline operations in critical sectors such as food distribution and industrial development.
