New Delhi: The Board of Directors of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Vikram Saxena as Director (Technology and Field Services).
His appointment, approved under a directive from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is effective until his superannuation on 31 July 2027, or further orders, whichever is earlier.
Saxena brings more than 35 years of experience in Exploration & Production (E&P) operations across both onshore and offshore domains. Prior to this role, he held key leadership positions within ONGC, showcasing expertise in operations, regulatory frameworks, health, safety & environment, and policy matters.
An alumnus of Dibrugarh University, he holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Human Resources from IGNOU, Delhi. He has also completed senior management programs at MDI Gurgaon, Energy Delta Institute (Netherlands), University of Antwerp (Belgium), IFP Training School (Paris), and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (Germany).
Additionally, he is a certified Energy Auditor and Energy Manager from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
With his extensive experience, Saxena is expected to play a pivotal role in driving technological advancements and enhancing ONGC’s field services. His leadership is expected to strengthen the company’s operations in India’s oil and gas sector.

ONGC, a Maharatna PSU, is India’s largest producer of crude oil and natural gas, contributing approximately 71 per cent of the country’s domestic production. Crude oil extracted by ONGC serves as the primary raw material for downstream companies like IOC, BPCL, HPCL, and its subsidiaries MRPL and HPCL, which refine it into essential petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, kerosene, naphtha and LPG.
