Chennai: IITM Pravartak, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has launched an advanced certification programme in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in partnership with Emeritus and IBM.
The initiative aims to address the widening skills gap between AI innovation and workforce readiness across sectors.
Developed to cater to professionals across domains, the programme focuses on equipping participants with industry-relevant AI and ML capabilities.
According to IITM Pravartak, the course is open to individuals from both technical and non-technical backgrounds, ranging from software engineers and data scientists to business analysts and product managers who want to integrate AI tools and models into their workflows.
The curriculum includes self-paced weekly video lectures, live masterclasses by industry experts, and a two-week capstone project. It is led by faculty members empanelled with IITM Pravartak, including Professor C Chandra Sekhar and Professor Dileep A D.
Real-World Applications and Hands-on Tools Included
The programme combines foundational theory with emerging technologies such as Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). Participants will work on over 30 projects and case studies based on current industry applications. Tools covered include TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit-Learn, and newer Gen AI models like Mistral.
The course is designed to help learners build practical portfolios on GitHub and Kaggle, which are often used by employers to assess technical proficiency. Alongside hands-on learning, the programme also includes discussions on recent research papers and applied case studies.
Certification and On-site Engagement Opportunities
On successful completion, participants will receive three professional certifications from IBM. The programme also offers optional in-person engagement at the IIT Madras Research Park, where learners can interact with faculty and other professionals in the AI space.
