Siliguri Municipal Corporation to Set Up New Hospital in Dabgram

Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) plans to build a 30-bed, G+4 hospital with modern facilities in Dabgram, Siliguri, making it the state's first civic board-established hospital.

Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) plans to build a 30-bed, G+4 hospital with modern facilities in Dabgram, Siliguri, making it the state's first civic board-established hospital.

Siliguri: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced plans to set up a 30-bed hospital at Dabgram in the city outskirts.

The proposed hospital will be a G+4 structure with a built-up area of 10,000 sq ft. It will be spread across two bighas of land.

The hospital will.be equipped with modern facilities. This includes CT scan, MRI, a dedicated blood bank, an OPD and diagnostic units for multiple specialities.

The hospital would be constructed on an annexed plot of Matri Sadan. This used to be the existing SMC-run health clinic.

According to SMC Mayor Gautam Deb, this new dedicated hospital will ease the pressure on the growing patient load at Siliguri District Hospital and North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.

This is the first time a civic board is taking up thr project to establish a hospital in West Bengal.

A DPR is being prepared and will be submitted to the state health department for approval. Construction is expected to begin in December.
