Bengaluru, July 10(APAC Media): Grahaa Space is preparing to launch its experimental nanosatellite, SOLARAS, on Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The mission will test the Bengaluru-based startup’s satellite platform in Low Earth Orbit while supporting research and future commercial space applications.
The mission, named SIDDHI, will validate Grahaa Space’s stackable nanosatellite bus along with key onboard systems that are expected to be used in its upcoming satellite programmes. The company is developing nanosatellites for earth observation and geospatial video data, a segment seeing growing demand for agriculture, disaster management, climate monitoring and infrastructure planning.
The mission will also carry VISWA-M, an academic research payload developed by VIT-AP University, Amaravati. The payload is intended to demonstrate a hosted architecture that can support research institutions and educational missions on future satellite launches.
Grahaa Space said the mission is part of its effort to build cost-effective and scalable nanosatellite platforms that can make space-based data more accessible. The company also sees the Vikram-1 launch as an opportunity to validate technologies before expanding its future satellite missions.
Commenting on the launch, Grahaa Space Co-founder and CEO Ramesh Kumar V said the mission will help the company test its technology stack in Low Earth Orbit and support the development of future satellite programmes while reflecting the growing role of India’s private space sector.
