Kolkata: The West Bengal government is launching a new project, ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ statewide from 2 August.
The state will spend a total of Rs 8000 crore on this project, announced Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 22 July.
Under this project, small, localised issues affecting citizens in their localities across 80,000 booths in the state will be addressed.
Each booth will.be allocated a sum of Rs 10 lakh to address these small localised challenges. The residents of each booth will deliberate and decide on specific items they want to spend the money.
This will include repair of neighbourhood roads, digging of tubewells, electricity issues, or repair of the roofs of schools and ICDS centres.
In addition, camps will.be arranged from time to time for residents of three booths next to each other.
The government officials will.be present in these camps throughout the day and listen to citizen complaints.
This whole activity will take place for two months throughout the state. However, it will be paused for 15 days during Pujas.
There will be a statewide task force created under Chief Secretary Manoj Pant to oversee and monitor the whole process. Each district will also have their separate task forces.
The ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ camps will have Duare Sarkar desks too.
The 10 per cent pending services for Duare Sarkar will be delivered in December, before new applicants are added to Lakshmir Bhandar.
The West Bengal government claims this to be a unique project amongst Indian states.
