Kolkata: The number of companies registered in West Bengal has gone up 82.5 per cent between 2011 and 2025, as per data from the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
While in 2011, there were 137,156 companies registered in the state, the number had increased to 2,50,343 on 31 March this year.
Even during the COVID constraints, the numbers had shown an increasing trend. The number was 2,06,305 in 2020, increased to 2,13,504 and 2,21,873 in 2022.
In 2024-25, 8353 new companies were registered and 366 left West Bengal. This year, till 31 July, 3464 companies have been incorporated and 156 have left.
In the last six years, 44,040 companies were incorporated in Bengal. Out of this, only 1742 companies shifted their registered offices out of thr state.
