Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly held its first-ever 24-hour marathon debate on the “Vision Document-2047,” centred on the theme Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh.
The session, which began on 13 August morning, continued till 14 August, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath present throughout the proceedings.
The debate aimed to outline a roadmap for transforming Uttar Pradesh into the country’s most developed state by 2047, targeting zero poverty, world-class infrastructure, advanced technology adoption and maximum contribution to India’s goal of becoming a global economic leader.
State ministers have presented achievements from 2017 to 2025, alongside strategies for progress up to 2047. Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said the state is on course to become India’s second-largest economy, stressing that national development depends on states taking “concrete and effective steps.”
Minister Asim Arun announced that a first draft of the vision document will be released for public feedback before finalisation.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak called the debate historic and meaningful for shaping future policy. However, CM Adityanath will compile the key points from all departments to frame future plans.
The Opposition, however, strongly criticised the government’s focus on 2047 targets. Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey demanded a detailed account of promises fulfilled since 2017. SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav pressed for urgent action on unemployment, farmer distress and housing, while Congress’s Aradhana Mishra raised concerns over low health budget allocations, MSP for farmers and alleged irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
However, despite criticism, senior ministers maintained that the vision document will serve as a comprehensive blueprint for inclusive growth, social justice, environmental protection and economic transformation over the next two decades.
