Noida, Sep 15 (APAC Media): Gold and silver prices remained volatile in the Indian market on Tuesday as investors tracked global bullion prices, movements in the US dollar and expectations surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision.
Retail silver was quoted at around ₹2,31,190 per kilogram, or approximately ₹2,311 per 10 grams, according to market rates reported on Tuesday.
Gold prices also remained firm but fluctuated across major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The retail price varies according to purity, with 24-carat gold priced higher than 22-carat gold.
In Delhi, 24-carat gold was quoted at around ₹14,968 per gram, while 22-carat gold was available at about ₹14,255 per gram. On a 10-gram basis, the rates stood at approximately ₹1,49,680 and ₹1,42,550, respectively.
Spot gold traded at 4,284.21, down 27.92 points or 0.65%, as investors remained cautious amid a softer tone in the precious metals market.

| Chennai | ₹ 1,51,940 | ₹ 1,39,278 | ₹ 2,32,040 |
International bullion prices came under pressure as investors assessed the outlook for US interest rates. A stronger dollar and elevated US Treasury yields tend to weigh on gold, which does not offer interest income.
Market participants are also monitoring developments in crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions, which could influence demand for traditional safe-haven assets.
On the domestic futures market, gold contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange were trading around ₹1.51 lakh per 10 grams, while silver futures remained above ₹2.3 lakh per kg, reflecting continued volatility in the precious metals market.

Analysts said bullion prices could see further fluctuations in the near term as traders position themselves ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy announcement. The direction of the dollar, bond yields and signals on future interest-rate cuts are expected to remain key factors for gold and silver.
For retail buyers, the final price of jewellery may differ from quoted bullion rates because of Goods and Services Tax, making charges and other levies. Consumers are therefore advised to check the latest rates with individual jewellers before making purchases.
With global economic uncertainty and monetary policy expectations continuing to drive sentiment, investors are likely to keep a close watch on international gold and silver prices for further direction.
