Lucknow: Senior IAS Surendra Singh of the 2005 Uttar Pradesh cadre has rejoined the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as Secretary to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, following a three-year central deputation in Delhi.Â
Singh’s return is seen as a strategic administrative move to strengthen governance and coordination at the top level of the state government.
Singh earlier served as Special Secretary in the CMO during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he played a key role in crisis management, strategic planning, and interdepartmental coordination. His performance during that challenging period earned him a reputation for effective leadership and strong execution.
During his deputation at the Centre, Singh worked as Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, handling complex issues related to urban governance and administration. This experience further enhanced his policy and coordination skills, which are expected to benefit the Uttar Pradesh administration.
A native of Mathura, Singh is known for his disciplined and result-oriented approach. Over his career, he has held several important positions, including Divisional Commissioner, Meerut Division; Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA); and District Magistrate of Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, and Pratapgarh.
This marks Singh’s second stint in the Chief Minister’s Office, underscoring the government’s confidence in his administrative acumen. His reappointment comes at a crucial time as the UP government prepares for major policy rollouts and reforms aimed at improving governance and service delivery in the state.
