New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) hosted the Pre-Summit events for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026 at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in New Delhi. The main Summit will be held on 19–20 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, under the theme “From Action to Impact”.
In his inaugural address, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan stated that India’s innovative and frugal AI initiatives, developed in collaboration with the private sector and accessible to all, have garnered global appreciation for being scalable models for the Global South.
The sessions brought together government officials, industry leaders, academics, and international institutions to explore the role of AI in inclusive, safe, and sustainable development. Four key panels discussed AI in Telecom for Social and Economic Impact, Building Trustworthy AI, India’s AI Workforce Advantage, and AI for Inclusive Growth.
Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY, and CEO, IndiaAI, said the IndiaAI Mission is closing key gaps by enabling affordable compute, national data platforms, and AI skilling. “With 38,000 GPUs available at ₹65 per hour and 12 companies developing foundation models, we plan to launch an Indian Large Language Model by year-end,” he added.
Kavita Bhatia, COO, IndiaAI Mission, highlighted AI’s growing use in telecom, from spectrum management to fraud detection, and its potential to strengthen connectivity in rural areas.
The pre-summit saw participation from leaders representing Reliance Jio, TCS, AWS, AMD, Google, Airtel, Microsoft, C-DOT, UNESCO, and others. The MeitY Pavilion at IMC was also awarded Best Exhibitor – Government.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026, anchored on the Sutras of People, Planet, and Progress, will explore seven “Chakras” to advance equitable, sustainable, and responsible AI for global good.
