Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on 5 November laid the foundation stone for a Rs 900-crore private super-speciality hospital at RK Nagar, located around 20 kilometres from Agartala.
The upcoming facility, to be developed by Manipur-based Shija Hospitals group, is expected to enhance the state’s healthcare infrastructure significantly.
The state government has allocated 28 acres of land for the project, marking one of the largest private healthcare investments in Tripura. During the ceremony, Saha said the initiative would help bring advanced medical facilities closer to residents of the northeastern region and reduce dependency on hospitals outside the state.
“The government is committed to extending full support to investors who wish to contribute to Tripura’s development. This project will not only strengthen healthcare services but also create substantial employment opportunities for the local population,” the Chief Minister said.
The Shija Hospitals group has also proposed setting up a medical college in the state, further expanding its footprint in Tripura’s healthcare and education sectors. The upcoming hospital at RK Nagar aims to provide high-end medical services and specialist care, contributing to the government’s broader vision of improving healthcare accessibility and quality across the region.
