New Delhi, May 14 (APAC Media): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a series of fuel conservation and energy-saving measures for government offices, citing rising global uncertainties and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for responsible fuel usage.
The measures, which will come into effect from Friday, are part of the Delhi government’s new campaign titled “Mera Bharat Mera Yogdan” (My India, My Contribution) aimed at promoting fuel efficiency and sustainable governance practices.
As part of the initiative, all Delhi government offices will observe two days of work from home (WFH) every week. The government has also directed departments to minimise vehicle usage.
Other key announcements by the Delhi government include:
- “Monday Metro” initiative for ministers, officers, and employees
- Appeal to citizens to observe one “No Vehicle Day” every week
- No new purchase of petrol, diesel or electric vehicles for six months
- 10% increase in transport allowance for employees
- Ban on official foreign travel for ministers and officers for one year
- Air conditioners in offices to be maintained between 24°C and 26°C
- Installation of master switches to reduce electricity wastage
- 90-day awareness campaign on energy and fuel conservation
Officials said the campaign will also involve public participation through pledges encouraging citizens to contribute towards energy savings and nation-building.
The government believes the measures will help reduce fuel consumption, improve energy efficiency, and encourage greater use of public transport while setting an example for sustainable administrative practices in the national capital.
