Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) yesterday set up special help desks at its HQ to expedite the issuance of birth and death certificates in the wake of the ongoing SIR exercise.
KMC on 3 December received around 400 online applications and 50 manual applications. The number of applications could exceed 500 a day in a week’s time.
The help desks would raise the daily quota of birth and death certificate applications through a chatbot (8335999111).
The staff have been trained in the verification of documents and processing birth and death certificates from different borough offices. More trained employees are likely to join the team in a few days.
