Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has assigned IAS Shubha Sarma the additional charge as Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department.
She is currently also serving as the Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department. She was formally welcomed by senior officials at the department’s office, where she was briefed on key responsibilities and ongoing initiatives.
During the meeting, Sarma underlined the importance of efficient departmental management and directed officials to plan field visits in January to review work on the ground. She stressed the need for close monitoring of various schemes and the smooth organisation of Panchayat Pakhya and other programmes at the state, district, and divisional levels.
Senior officials, including Special Secretary Narahari Sethi, Director and Special Secretary Ashok Kumar Behera, Senior Engineer Dr C Chandrasekhar Padhee, and heads of departments, were present during the interaction. Officials shared updates on current initiatives and assured full cooperation in achieving departmental objectives.
Sarma said her immediate focus would be on the effective implementation of schemes and strengthening coordination with other departments to ensure the successful execution of planned programmes during January.
Before Sarma, IAS Anu Garg held the additional charge of the water resources department. She has now been appointed as the chief secrretary of the state.
