New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved two new Guinness World Records for continuous Bituminous Concrete paving, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said.
In a social media post sharing a video of the work in progress by NHAI workers, Gadkari said NHAI set a global benchmark by laying a record 156 lane-kilometres of paving and 57,500 metric tonnes of Bituminous Concrete in a continuous operation, surpassing the earlier world record of 84.4 lane-kilometres.
The achievement was recorded across Package-2 and Package-3 of the six-lane Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor near Puttaparthi.

According to the minister, the milestone was made possible through the deployment of advanced machinery, strong logistics planning and stringent quality control, with technical support from premier institutions such as IIT Bombay.
Gadkari also noted that earlier this month, on 6 January, NHAI had set two other global records on the same corridor by laying 28.8 lane-kilometres and 10,655 metric tonnes of Bituminous Concrete within 24 hours.
He said the achievements reflect India’s growing leadership in world-class highway infrastructure and large-scale project execution under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
