New Delhi: Vodafone Idea Foundation (Vi Foundation), the corporate social responsibility arm of Vodafone Idea, in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, has completed the first batch of its Telecom Innovation Research and Training Centre initiative, a skilling programme designed around emerging technologies.
A virtual convocation and felicitation ceremony was organised to recognise 50 students who successfully completed the programme’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning course. The month-long intensive training, which began in November 2025, focused on hands-on learning and industry-aligned applications, the company said in a statement issued on 30 January 2026.
Speaking at the convocation, Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, Deputy Director General (Strategic Engagements) at the DoT, emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between government bodies and industry players to nurture a future-ready talent pool for the telecom and technology sectors.
Ambika Khurana, Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer at Vodafone Idea Limited, also addressed the participants, highlighting the growing importance of continuous skilling and upskilling and the role industry can play in enabling such opportunities.
According to the official release, the Skilling Program on Emerging Technologies is aimed at narrowing the gap between academic learning and practical industry needs.
The initiative aligns with national missions such as Digital India, Skill India and IndiaAI, and seeks to equip students with application-focused capabilities in areas including artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity, with a strong emphasis on telecom-related use cases.
