Kolkata: The 49th International Kolkata Book Fair, which started on January 22and concluded yesterday, had broken all earlier footfall and book sale records.
This edition of the fair saw close to 32 lakh visitors, which was an all-time high. This translated into about Rs 26.4 crore in book sales.
According to the Booksellers and Publishers Guild, there have been 15 per cent higher book sales compared to last year.
In 2025, the book fair recorded around 27 lakh footfall and about Rs 23 crore in book sales.
Next year, the Book Fair will celebrate its 50th edition and may need more land to prepare and celebrate the golden jubilee year.
