Kolkata: The oil marketing companies have finally resolved a technical flaw in the delivery authentication code for LPG consumers.
This system will send the code to a WhatsApp message or an e-mail on the device from which the LPG cylinder is booked.
Till now the delivery authentication code used to be sent to the registered mobile number only.
This system requires this one-time code to be shared with the delivery personnel at the time of the LPG handover.
This glitch has left several households unable to receive booked LPG cylinder despite making payments.
This followed weeks of confusion and several instances of failed deliveries.
The program design limitation was sending the code to the registered number only and not the device of booking.
With people having multiple devices and numbers, this was creating a serious problem.
According to oil companies, this code remains a safeguard against misuse.
Especially in the current LPG crisis, this might prevent diversion to commercial markets and enhance transparency.
