New Delhi: IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation has entered into a collaboration with SRIT to promote wider deployment of ShaktiDB, an indigenous enterprise database platform designed to support secure and sovereign data management in India.
The initiative aims to accelerate the use of home-grown database infrastructure across government institutions and enterprise environments that require high levels of reliability and regulatory compliance.
The effort is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and is being implemented through a joint initiative involving IIT Madras, Pravartak and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
Under the arrangement, SRIT will contribute its system integration capabilities and industry experience to help organisations transition to ShaktiDB for data-intensive operations.
Officials said the partnership is intended to respond to the rising demand for trusted digital infrastructure that aligns with India’s requirements for data sovereignty, security, and long-term technological independence.
By combining technology development with practical implementation support, the initiative seeks to encourage broader use of indigenous platforms in critical sectors.
According to Shankar Raman, CEO of IITM Pravartak, the collaboration represents an important step in scaling domestic deep-tech innovations and strengthening India’s digital backbone through locally developed solutions.
Meanwhile, Madhu Nambiar, Chairman of SRIT, said the company’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting technology self-reliance and building future-ready digital infrastructure in the country.
ShaktiDB has been engineered as a high-performance database platform derived from PostgreSQL architecture and tailored to meet the needs of government bodies and regulated industries.
The system incorporates features such as robust security controls, regulatory alignment, scalable performance, and cost-efficient deployment for mission-critical environments.
