Kolkata: The West Bengal government is setting up an IT library at Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy (SVSPA) at Barrackpur.
This is aimed at improving the academic and training infrastructure at the police academy.
The library would help police and other professional upholders of law. Even the general public and students will be granted restricted access.
The IT library will include desktops, laptops, scanning, photocopying, and barcode-based digital arrangements and cataloguing systems.
The library will also have a dedicated LAN andva Wi-Fi network for database access. The total project will cost Rs 11 lakhs.
For environmental protection of the project, dehumidifiers and air purifiers will be used to protect books, documents and electronic equipment.
The IT library will also help students and researchers gain knowledge about civil suits, policing systems and cyber laws.
