Hanoi, May 19 (APAC Media): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang in Hanoi.
Both sides reviewed the expanding defence partnership between India and Vietnam and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation in key strategic areas.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed enhancing collaboration in maritime security, defence manufacturing, military training, and regional stability. Both countries also agreed to strengthen ties between their armed forces through regular dialogues, joint military exercises and exchange programmes.

Rajnath Singh reaffirmed India’s commitment to further strengthening the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and reiterated India’s support for Vietnam’s defence modernisation and capacity-building efforts under the bilateral defence cooperation.
Vietnamese Defence Minister Phan Van Giang appreciated India’s continued support and highlighted the strong friendship and growing strategic relationship between the two nations.
During the visit, the two defence ministers virtually inaugurated a Language Lab at the Air Force Officers’ College in Vietnam, established with Indian assistance. Singh also announced the setting up of an Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Telecommunications University in Nha Trang.
Additionally, India’s Military College of Telecommunications Engineering and Vietnam’s Tele Communications University signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology, further expanding technological cooperation.Â
Both leaders reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between India and Vietnam, which is based on shared civilisational ties, mutual trust, and common strategic interests. They expressed satisfaction over the steady progress of the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President To Lam, recalling his previous visit to India, appreciated the growing engagement between the two countries and described India as an important partner in Vietnam’s growth story and close cooperation in defence, security and regional stability.Â
