Traders said gold prices witnessed mild volatility during intraday trade as global spot prices fluctuated and the US dollar showed intermittent strength against major currencies. A weaker rupee also contributed to keeping domestic gold prices elevated, import-linked traders said.
Market participants added that occasional profit-booking at higher levels capped sharp gains, even as underlying demand remained firm.
Demand for gold in India continues to be supported by retail buying, with attention gradually shifting toward the upcoming festive and wedding seasons.
Analysts said the metal continues to benefit from its safe-haven appeal amid ongoing global economic uncertainty and inflation concerns.
“Gold is finding support at elevated levels due to macroeconomic uncertainty, though short-term corrections cannot be ruled out,” a market observer said.
Overall, bullion trade on June 4 reflected a stable but cautious sentiment, with prices consolidating near record levels while responding to global financial signals and domestic demand trends.
