New Delhi, June 5(CXO Media): Google has reduced jobs across parts of its Cloud division as the company shifts resources toward artificial intelligence investments. The layoffs have affected multiple teams, including cybersecurity units linked to its Mandiant operations, according to reports.
The workforce reductions reportedly impacted Google Cloud’s Threat Intelligence Group, a unit focused on tracking cyber threats and publishing security research. Employees across other areas of the Cloud division and parts of Mandiant, which Google acquired in 2022, have also been affected. The total number of job cuts has not been disclosed by the company so far.
Google said it regularly reviews its organisational structure to align with evolving customer and industry needs. The company has indicated that resources are being redirected toward growth areas such as AI development. The cuts come amid wider restructuring across global technology firms, where rising AI spending is prompting companies to reassess staffing and operational priorities, particularly in cloud, security, and enterprise services.
