New Delhi, June 1 (APAC Media): West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari expanded his cabinet on Monday, including 35 BJP MLAs into the Council of Ministers.
The expansion took the cabinet strength to 41, three weeks after the BJP’s landmark election win.
The cabinet now brings together veteran politicians, former Union ministers, community representatives and regional leaders who played a key role in the BJP’s rise in West Bengal.
Dilip Ghosh: He is one of the major faces in the Bengal cabinet and has played a crucial role in expanding the BJP’s presence in the state.
A former Bengal BJP president, Ghosh led the party between 2015 and 2021. This was a period during which the BJP emerged as a major political force in Bengal.
He won the Kharagpur Assembly seat in the 2026 elections by a margin of over 30,000 votes.
He also served as the MP from Medinipur after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Agnimitra Paul: One of the BJP’s most prominent women face in West Bengal, Paul is a successful fashion designer before entering politics.
She joined the BJP in 2019 and soon emerged as a key face of the party in the state.
Paul won the Asansol Dakshin Assembly seat in the 2026 elections by a margin of more than 40,000 votes.
She had earlier served as the president of the BJP Mahila Morcha in West Bengal and is currently holding the position of state vice-president.
Her inclusion in the cabinet highlights the party’s focus on women’s representation and leadership.
Nisith Pramanik: One of the most experienced faces in the cabinet, Nisith Pramanik is a former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs & Sports.
He secured a comfortable victory from Mathabhanga and continues to be one of the BJP’s strongest leaders in North Bengal.
His administrative experience at the Centre is expected to be a major asset for the state government.
Ashok Kirtania: His presence in the cabinet is expected to strengthen the government’s outreach among Matua voters.
These voters play a significant role in several districts of southern Bengal.
Kshudiram Tudu: A former school teacher, Kshudiram Tudu is the tribal face in the BJP’s cabinet.
He is a first time MLA from Ranibandh (ST) in Bankura district and has been active in raising issues related to tribal welfare, rural development and local governance.
His inclusion reflects the government’s effort to strengthen representation from tribal communities and the Jangalmahal region.
Tapas Roy: One of the biggest names in the cabinet expansion is Tapas Roy. He is a veteran politician with decades of experience in West Bengal politics,
Roy brings administrative knowledge and strong grassroots connections to the Adhikari government.
His induction is seen as an effort to strengthen the cabinet with experienced leadership.
Swapan Dasgupta: Former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta is among the most prominent faces inducted into the ministry.
He is known as a political commentator, columnist and public intellectual. Dasgupta has long been associated with policy debates and national politics.
His inclusion adds a strategic and policy-oriented dimension to the government.
Arjun Singh: He is one of the BJP’s most influential leaders in southern West Bengal.
With a strong political base in the industrial belt of Barrackpore and North 24 Parganas, Singh has played a major role in expanding the party’s reach in the region.
Shankar Ghosh: Darjeeling MLA Shankar Ghosh has emerged as an important BJP leader from North Bengal.
His inclusion reflects the government’s focus on maintaining a strong presence in a region that contributed significantly to the party’s electoral success.
