Focus on Jointness and Military Reforms
General Subramani made it clear that one of his biggest priorities will be improving coordination among the three services.
He emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision of “JAI” – Jointness, Aatmanirbharta, and Innovation.
The new CDS said organisational reforms, deeper integration between the services, and stronger operational synergy will be key focus areas.
These efforts are aimed at creating a more efficient and future-ready military force capable of responding to evolving security challenges
Push for Indigenous Defence Manufacturing
General Subramani’s vision is strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence. He stressed the need to accelerate the development, induction and integration of indigenous weapons and defence technologies.
The move aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which seeks to reduce dependence on imports and boost domestic defence production.
Why the CDS Post Was Created?
The post of CDS was created in 2019 following the recommendations of the Kargil Review Committee and was first held by General Bipin Rawat.
The position was established to strengthen coordination among the three services and enhance the country’s military preparedness through integrated planning and operations.
