Noida, June 15 (APAC Media): Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended sharply higher on Monday, tracking firm global cues and easing geopolitical concerns, with both indices closing in the green.
The BSE Sensex ended the session 737 points, or 0.98%, higher at 76,266. During the day, the index touched an intraday high of 76,824.07, extending its gains by over 2,433 points in just two trading sessions.
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 closed at 23,856, up 232 points, or 0.99%. In intraday trade, the index briefly crossed the 24,000 marks before giving up some gains by the close.
Market participants attributed the rally to improving global sentiment following reports of progress toward a potential peace framework between the United States and Iran.
The development eased worries over crude oil supply disruptions, leading to a softening in oil prices and supporting risk appetite in equities.
Easing global bond yields also contributed to the upward momentum, making equities more attractive relative to fixed-income assets.
Foreign institutional inflows and renewed domestic buying interest further strengthened market sentiment.
Mid- and small-cap stocks also witnessed strong participation, reflecting robust risk appetite among investors. Broader Asian markets were similarly firm, adding to the positive tone.
Analysts said near-term market direction is likely to remain sensitive to global geopolitical developments, crude oil price movements, and foreign fund flows.
Key Market Levels:
- Sensex BSE*: +737 points
- Nifty 50: Above 23,850
The session marked one of the stronger upswings in recent weeks, with sentiment broadly constructive across major sectors.
