Kurukshetra, July 20 (APAC Media): Kurukshetra University (KUK) Assistant Professor Dr Raj Ratan has been appointed Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The appointment marks a significant milestone in his career. It brings together his experience in the Indian Navy, higher education and public administration.

He said Dr Raj Ratan’s experience would help strengthen India’s examination and assessment system.
From the Indian Navy to Academia & UPSC
Dr Raj Ratan began his professional journey in the Indian Navy, where he served for 15 years.
During his service, he gained experience in leadership, administration and personnel management.
After retiring, he joined the Higher Education Department, Haryana. He later became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Kurukshetra University.
His journey from military service to academia reflects his continued commitment to public service and nation-building.
To Strengthen UPSC Examination Reforms
Dr Raj Ratan holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology. He specialises in Counselling Psychology and Military Psychology.
His research focuses on military psychology. It is backed by years of experience in the armed forces.
As Deputy Director (Examination Reforms), he will help improve UPSC’s examination framework. His focus will be on making competitive examinations more transparent, fair and efficient.
Speaking after his selection, Dr Raj Ratan said he would work towards strengthening examination reforms.
He also said he would contribute to improving the credibility and effectiveness of the Commission’s examination system.

Congratulating him, Vice Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva said the appointment is a matter of pride for the university.
He expressed confidence that Dr Raj Ratan’s academic expertise, administrative experience and military background would strengthen India’s examination and assessment framework.

He said their encouragement guided him throughout his journey, from serving in the Indian Navy to teaching at Kurukshetra University and now taking up a key role at the UPSC.
