Noida, Aug 6 (APAC Media): Xiaomi on Thursday launched the Redmi Note 17 smartphone in India, targeting consumers in the mid-range segment with a focus on display, battery performance, and long-term software support.
The Redmi Note 17 features a 6.9-inch TrueColour AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals and improved responsiveness. The display supports a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and delivers up to 1,800 nits peak brightness, aimed at providing enhanced viewing quality across different lighting conditions.
For durability, the smartphone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and carries an IP65 rating for resistance against dust and water exposure.

The device is powered by an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is among the key highlights of the smartphone. Xiaomi has bundled a 45W charger in the box, while the phone also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing users to charge other compatible devices.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 is equipped with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and is offered with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The smartphone also includes a virtual RAM expansion feature that increases memory capacity up to 16GB. Storage can be expanded up to 2TB through additional storage support.
The handset runs on Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box. Xiaomi has committed to providing four years of software updates and six years of security patches for the device.
In terms of photography, the Redmi Note 17 comes with a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone is available in three colour options — Arctic Blue, Starlight Purple, and Dark Night. The base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage has been priced at ₹27,999, while the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model is available at ₹30,999.
With the Redmi Note 17, Xiaomi aims to strengthen its position in India’s competitive mid-range smartphone market by combining a large battery, high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, and extended software support.
