Chip Manufacturing In India
Under the partnership, the companies will evaluate the fabrication and packaging of LTSCT’s existing and future semiconductor products. The companies will also work on improving the process from chip design to manufacturing.
LTSCT will bring its semiconductor design and engineering capabilities, while Tata Electronics will provide access to its semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing capabilities.
The companies plan to focus on products for sectors such as automotive, industrial, communications, security and intelligent-edge applications.
Semiconductor Manufacturing
The partnership comes as India expands its domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity. Tata Electronics is developing a semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, along with a semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Assam.
For LTSCT, the agreement provides a way to connect its chip designs with manufacturing and packaging capabilities in India. The L&T subsidiary develops semiconductor products across power, compute, analog and mixed-signal, IoT and RF segments.
India Semiconductor Mission
The partnership also aligns with the government’s broader push to develop an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem in India. The companies said the collaboration will support domestic value addition and the manufacturing of semiconductor products for Indian and international markets.
The agreement is part of a wider effort by Indian companies to build capabilities across chip design, fabrication, packaging and testing as the country seeks to expand its role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
